Sokol F5D/400

Have just picked a Sokol Pylon Racer up from wired RC, due to the fact it was very affordable for a fully moulded racer, looked promising, and is cheap to get going in a couple of hours, without massive waiting times as common with other high performance, hand made composite racers - Michael got a crate of them in stock- and they DO come with instructions...and yes..they are spot on - CofG and all! Its all painted in the mould, so there is no comment on the immaculate finish, everything fits and all you need is $3,- worth of hardware for the aileron linkages. The aspect ratio is less than a Voodoo and airfoil (waver thin) section suggest to be a bit of a worry on launch, but it is not...with around 3500kv on a 4.75x4.75 prop, you get a very fast, easy to fly F5D/400 racer, that can be safely hand launched yourself. Speed with an identical power train is a little faster than a Urban Voodoo, however it is a bit more demanding to turn as clean as the Voodoo does. All in all....yes, definately buy one again, and the "bang for the buck" is hard to match. Fast, easy to launch, easy to fly..and also easy "no frills flaps and all sorts of mixing" landing characteristics with lots of fuselage room for a 2100, 3S lipo, 50A ESC and a decent motor! 10/10 Michael!!
